mec energy

The reliable partner in your solar project

Sustainable power generation of the future – photovoltaic systems

At times of energy revolution, regenerative energy sources provide great potential. The expansion of solar plants, in particular, creates sustainable and cheap electricity source, which can generate additional income.
As a landowner, you have an opportunity to actively support us at MEC Energy, a company of the MEC Group, during the energy revolution and benefit financially.

As a company of the MEC Group, MEC Energy is the specialist in project development in the renewable energy sector with focus on standalone as well as rooftop PV systems. The company combines experience in the consultancy sector with many years of expertise in project development in the energy sector.

MEC Energy supports energy projects from planning via approvals to implementation. In addition, the company supports landowners in realising a long-term passive income.

We lease your unused open space or water area

Do you own an unused open space or water area which you would like to lease out? Then we are just the right partner for you. Use our form to check the area and receive a non-binding offer from us. In this case, the inspection is based on well-founded parameters to be able to make a meaningful assessment of the suitability of your area for the installation of a photovoltaic system. After completing the assessment, we will send you an attractive offer as soon as possible.

We are looking for these areas

Open spaces not funded by the EEC from a size of 5 hectares

These include, among others:

  • Green areas and farmland, also as agrivoltaic (combination of agricultural and solar use)
  • Low yield farmland
  • Areas for special crops
EEC-funded open spaces from a size of 5 hectares

These include, among others:

  • Conversion areas such as former military, industrial, commercial, housing or traffic areas
  • Plots in special areas
  • Plots in commercial and industrial areas
  • Sealed plots (e.g. car parks) or fills
  • Plots within a 200 m corridor of motorways and railway lines
Unused and / or artificial waters

These include, among others:

  • Quarry ponds
  • Gravel lakes
  • Brown coal surface mining lakes
  • Ponds
  • Water-bearing trenches
Roof surfaces from a size of 1000m² (usable)

These include, among others:

  • Flat roofs (free orientation of the system toward the sun)
  • Sloping roof surfaces with southern, western or eastern orientation (ideal roof pitch is 25° – 30°)
  • No shading from surrounding objects such as buildings or trees
  • No renovation is necessary during the term of the lease (if necessary, work may be carried out prior to the installation of a PV system)

Standalone photovoltaic system

Standalone photovoltaic systems are a widespread and efficient method of the solar power generation. Optimal alignment of the solar modules achieves an ideal irradiation angle. The size of the solar park may vary from approximately one hectare to more than 100 hectares. Standalone photovoltaic systems may be implemented either with or without state subsidy. Where state subsidy is desired, the spaces are limited to specific types of land, such as special plots, conversion plots, and plots near motorways or railways subsidised by EEC funding.

Floating-
Solar

Floating solar systems on water surfaces – Unused waters are becoming increasingly more attractive for the installation of photovoltaic systems. The power output of a floating PV system is up to 15% higher than that of a standalone system. This is due to the continuous cooling effect of the water and the additional water reflection. At the same time, evaporation and the formation of algae are minimised. Whether natural, artificial, or previously used areas of water, the potential for floating solar is enormous and is waiting to be exploited.

Agrivoltaic

Hybrid use of agricultural open spaces – as a farmer, you may also use your cultivated areas for the generation of solar power. The agrivoltaic process facilitates hybrid use of the space. Here, raised solar modules are used instead of the conventional photovoltaic modules close to the ground. In this way, the area below and next to the PV systems can be efficiently used for cultivation. Agri-PV system also provides protection against storm damage to seedlings and animals.

Photovoltaic systems on car park areas

The federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg have already introduced the mandatory installation of photovoltaic systems for new car parks of commercial premises. Schleswig-Holstein and Rhineland-Palatinate also intend to introduce the mandatory installation of photovoltaic systems for new car parks in the near future. Whether newly built or an existing car park, roofing of the car park with a photovoltaic system is an ideal solution for the additional generation of environmentally-friendly solar energy.
